The power of music.

Shiibashi Takeshi, Ooki Nobuo, Ichigo Urayama and Satou Masatoshi met in Saitama private highschool. They gratuated in 1997 and entered college in Shimokitazawa, where they mainly started activities.
In 1999, Shiibashi Takeshi left the band. Since then, ACIDMAN consists of three members... of three men~
The band has its own vision of the world and it surfs on various styles. It can simply be rock but their music is a mix between alternative music, jazzy sounds, pop-rock, punk-rock and whatever you want! It is quite relaxing and at the same time powerful.

History:

ACIDMAN was born in July 1997, made up then of 4 members. No oneman yet. They played in events with other indie bands. In 1998, they distribute their two first demo tapes. One year later, Shiibashi Takeshi left the band. Ooki becomes the new singer, and remains the guitarist. Since 1999, this lineup hasn't changed. On that year, their third demo tape is distributed. On April 2000, Ooki passes his pharmacy examination and in November, ACIDMAN releases its 1st maxi single Sekitou under Normadic Records. About one year later, it ranks 3rd in the Oricon Indies Chart.

On March 2002, their mini album Sankazora is released and ranks 29th in the Oricon Indies Chart. From March to April, there is their first oneman tour, called ACIDMAN FIRST TOUR 2002 -oriental tag match-. On march 25th, there's their first oneman in Shimokitazawa, at Garage. On July, they play with GQ06, farida's café at Tokyo, Shibuya Yaneura live house for their first Cinema Vol. event, which they sponsore and whom aim is to show the link between lives and cinema. During those lives, people are able to watch movies (mostly western ones) and enjoy bands'lives. Their first album, Sou is released on 30th October, and ranks 9th in the Oricon chart. In October, they play at O-West Shibuya and in December, they hold their first one man concert at AtlantiQs, Osaka. 2002 is the year during which ACIDMAN begins collaborating with Toshiba/Emi, becoming a major band.

2003 is another busy year. On march, they release Slow View, their 6th single, and their first dvd, Scene of Sou, which contains videos clips of songs from Sou. They play with HUSKING BEE and mixape in Tokyo, bloodthirsty butchers and CONDOR 44 in Nagoya and bloodthirsty butchers and in-sist in Osaka on Cinema vol.1. Moreover, they win the New Artist of the year Award at the 17th Japan Gold Disc Awards. One month later, they hold three oneman concerts, at Tokyo Shibuya AX, Osaka BIG CAT, and Nagoya Electric Lady. In May, they play with THE BACK HORN, with whom they also play the next year for a few dates. During 2003 summer, people can finally listen to ACIDMAN's new maxi single 'Repeat', which contains a video of the song and a documentary video. So does their second album album 'Loop' is out. It hits 9th place of Oricon charts. In September, follows their second dvd clip, 'Scene of "Loop" and a nationwide 8 dates live tour, ACIDMAN 'LOOP' LIVE TOUR.

ACIDMAN releases Suisha (maxi-single) on 3rd March. Thus, they play with THE BACH HORN, the band apart or in-sist in several nationwide cities for Cinema vol.2. The band participates in the OUR LAST DAY compilation album for the Casshern movie, with bands such as THE BACK HORN, GLAY or even HYDE. In July is released a cover album of Disney songs. ACIDMAN covers Colors Of The Wind from Pocahontas. It will be featured on Equal album too, released two month later. It is their 3rd album and ranks 10th in the Oricon album chart. There is also another DVD CLIP and a nationwide LIVE TOUR, with more than 14 dates, including ZEPP TOKYO. ACIDMAN is invited at ROCK IN JAPAN festival 2004 and Rising Sun Rock festival, which are among the most important rock festivals in Japan.

In March 2005, they win BEST ROCK VIDEO award at SPACE SHOWER MUSIC VIDEO AWARD (which can be compared to the MTV Video Music Awards) with their -sai- (inst Ver.) Mawaru, meguru, sono kaku e powerful video. The video is often used during ACIDMAN's concerts, which is very striking. It was directed by Isao Nishigori, who heads most of ACIDMAN's PVs (take a look at this interview)) In June, they stop at different national cities with BACK DROP BOMB, MO'SOME TONEBENDER, Master Love or in-sist for Cinema vol.3. Aru shoumei single comes in store in May, Kisetsu no tou in October and World Symphony in November. Follows their 4th album 'and world', which ranks 9th in the Oricon Album Chart.

Beginning 2006 with the release of their 4th DVD CLIP, 'Scene of "and world"', they go on a Japan tour with a date at SHIBUYA-AX in Tokyo and 6 dates in famous Zepp concert halls. Most of them are sold out. There is an aditionnal concert in Zepp Tokyo, on 9th April, which is recorded and will be released on a DVD. In July, their first LIVE DVD "and world tour final 20060409" is released. This summer, they take part in Rock in Japan, Summer Sonic and Rising Sun Festival. In September, they release another single, RETURNING. In November, they play with bands such as Doping Panda and Fujifabric.

2007 is the year of the release of their 'green chord' album, then of 'Scene of "green chord"'. In March and April is set their promoting tour. 8 out of 11 dates are sold out. There is also another date in May, at Nippon Budokan. REMIND and UNFOLD's singles are available in July and November. In September, along with RIZE and 10-feet, they travel around Japan on the Trinity Tour. They release their second Live DVD, which features their final "green chord" date tour at Nippon Budokan. Finally, in December the band takes part in the COUNTDOWN JAPAN 07/08 WEST festival.

In March 2008, after the release of their single Shikijitsu in February, ACIDMAN offers us their 6th album, called LIFE, followed by a PVs DVD, 'Scene of "LIFE"'. Their LIFE Japan tour will be about 15 dates. In April, they appears on Music Station, a Japanese tv music show with Shikijitsu during which happened some technical problems. They already went on that tv show, playing Equal.
